Portfolio update January 2020

Hello and welcome, here is my investment portfolio update for January 2020.

First Kuetzal, then Envestio?!? What’s going on? I’ll tell you what’s going on, sh*t hit the fan. Atleast with those two platforms. I do not wish to cause any panick, because there are still a lot of legitimate P2P platforms out there and P2P investing is a great way to generate income. By saying that, I have not withdrawn any of my funds from any other platform.

If you do not follow, Kuetzal and Envestio are both most probably scams. Few or even many greedy folks scammed a lot of people and have gotten away with it, at least for now. The Estonian Police and Border Guard Board have both of them under investigation. But there is no concrete proof that anything has been achieved yet, because it is an ongoing investigation. Only time will tell.

You can read about Envestio in my post “Is Envestio a scam? – Will another P2P platform bite the dust?“.

Let’s dive deeper into the numbers

First serious blowback in my investing career. What a great way to kick off 2020 …

I had 500€ invested into Envestio, which is most likely to be a scam, no official statements from the Estonian Police yet, but it’s obvious. I can only thank myself that I had enough sense in the past to just invest 500 euros into that P2P platform. The offered rates seemed a bit too high, but I still decided to try it out. And as we now know if the deal is too good to be true, there has to be something wrong with it.

Nonetheless, other passive incomes from investments kept on generating and the month ended up being a mediocre one. 217,07€ interests from investments, which is pretty close to the average month. But still ended up with a loss of 282,93€.

Also, I am excited about the new UpSteam 2 campaign and hope that I can generate even more revenue & profit with my e-shop side hustle.

Envestio

As we all know, Kuetzal announced it’s shutting down on January 12th 2020. But just few days later on January 16th 2020, Envestio sent out a press release about “Envestio reacts to Kuetzal panic”. And as we again all already know, all of that was just BS. Envestio is also down and a scam just like Kuetzal was.

My Envestio “interest income” in euros

As most or maybe even all of the projects at Envestio might’ve been fake, I don’t think that it’s wise for me to even consider “interest income” from the previous projects and just write off my initial investment of 500€.

Bondora

In June 2018, I decided to exit from Bondora. A year has gone by and I don’t even miss Bondora! It was the first platform I started investing in with just 10.1€ being the first deposit. Crazy right? It has served me well, even though I made lots of rookie mistakes, I am exiting with positive vibes. Farewell Bondora!

Exited from Bondora with a loss of 65,57€!

I do not recommend investing at Bondora, but if you still want to, be sure to read my Bondora review first!

UpSteam Syndicate 2

On 28th November 2019 UpSteam announced that they are working on a new fundraising campaign. The campaign was launched in the first half of December.

As I mentioned in the previous portfolio update, I made a small mistake by not investing in the first couple of days of the campaign and had to settle with a little bit lower amount of shares as I wanted.

I received my 381 shares on 2nd January 2020, total amount invested 1264,92€.

Tanker Brewery Syndicate

In 17th October 2019 Tanker announced that they are preparing for another capital raise on Funderbeam. The new syndicate can be seen here – https://www.funderbeam.com/syndicate/tanker-brewery-2

I decided not to invest into the new campaign, because my initial investment hasn’t risen at all after one year of investment.

In September 2018, I made a small investment of 500€ at Funderbeam into the company called Tanker Brewery.
In January 2020 my shares were worth 500€.

Side hustles

#1 Blog income: TargetCircle/CircleWise and Bonusway

In June I decided to put the blog income from affiliate/referral system and other side hustles incoome into the same graph, hence the numbers are a bit bigger now. This is the part where it gets interesting.

In January the blog and referral comissions generated 250,38€;
Other side hustles generated: 232,75€;
Total income: 483,13€.Blog and side hustle income in euros, january 2020 - portfolio update

More detailed payout from TargetCircle/CircleWise:

I feel terrible about the investors, who decided to use my referral links to sign up to Envestio and Kuetzal. I made the same mistake and lost 500€.
Also, I am more than sure that TargetCircle will not get any payments from Envestio nor Kuetzal, because they are scams, hence these graphs wil change in the near future and I will make the corrections to my blog referral income.TargetCircle-Wisefund referral income from the blog january 2020

I display two different incomes under the blog income. One is referral income from TargetCircle and the other one is affiliate income from Bonusway. Bonusway – I use it to save money while e-shopping or booking ONLINE. Read more at https://financefreedom.eu/save-money-when-e-shopping-or-booking-online/ A really simple way to save up money, especially on housing and from them random orders on AliExpress … (You know what I mean, we’ve all done it!) Considering this blog is mostly dedicated to finance and logging my pursuit on becoming financially free, the TargetCircle referral links usually earn me a lot more than Bonusway affiliate links or any other side hustle income.

#2 E-shop income

The first month of 2020 had a pretty decent start for my e-shop, yet, once again the revenue stopped in the middle of the month. It did not pick up until I made 1 “big” wholesale for another company.

January’s total revenue: 557,43€.

Shipping costs: 54,26€.

Total profit from sales: 230,19€.
